A little about her.
Zaryah Ava-Danae Dickson is 15years old. At just 5 yrs old she took a liking to the guitar. And it was at age 8 she was asked to join the Couva Anglican Primary School Steel Pan Group by Mr. Sylvester, the band instructor. Mr. Sylvester recognized her passion for music and quickly pushed her to test the limits of her interest.
In 2018, even as she was engrossed in her SEA exam preparations, Mr. Sylvester directed her path into the Golden Hands Steel Orchestra. Golden Hands scored a victorious win with the song ‘Trouble’, composed & arranged by Vanessa Headley, at the National Panorama Small Band Finals that year. It was Zaryah’s first taste of hard work and competitive success in the world of music.
Mr. Sylvester also encouraged her to play in numerous shows and church events to build her confidence. In 2018, Zary graduated from Couva Anglican Primary School and received an award for Excellence in Music. When she moved over to Holy Faith Convent Couva, her musical journey continued with membership in the school’s choir and steelband. There, she is an avid musical arranger, plays the tenor pan, bass pan, drums, as well as piano and guitar. Zary is also a member of the Laudem Music School choir.
